Alessia, a volunteer and supporter of Isla ng Bata, gives an update on her athletic preparation and on her participation in the Swim Crossing of the Strait of Messina, the next challenge to support our girls in the Philippines. There are days that become precious opportunities to feel part of something bigger. On the upcoming September 6, the sea will become the symbol of a shared journey: the Solidarity Crossing of the Strait of Messina, organized by the volunteers of Isla ng Bata to raise funds for our Family Home in the Philippines, will come to life with all the strength of solidarity, commitment, and love for those who need it most. This is how Alessia (one of the volunteers who launched the solidarity initiative) describes these weeks of training: “The date we have long awaited is no longer just a distant goal: now it’s real. An important milestone we must prepare for in the best possible way, because those three and a half kilometers are certainly not a simple walk. So the training begins, in the pool and at the sea, made of consistency, determination, and effort. A lot of effort.” Alessia continues: “We are not professional swimmers, but with the valuable advice of Alessia Zecchini (world champion freediver who will swim with us), we are ready to step up and give our best to reach this goal.” She concludes: “And luckily we are not alone: with us there will be other Isla Ng Bata volunteers who have chosen to share this adventure with us. We support each other, united by the same commitment: helping improve the conditions of the girls of Isla Ng Bata, who remain the heart of the project and our greatest motivation.”
