Read the summary of the first edition of the solidarity ride that Francesco, president of Isla ng Bata, has created to support the girls housed in the family home that the Association has opened in the Philippines.
The very first edition of Francesco’s Solidarity Ride took place in 2019. It all started one evening in Calabnugan, Philippines, the village where Isla ng Bata’s family home is located. Francesco, Flora and some other volunteers were looking for ideas on how to implement a fundraise project that could help supporting high school costs for all the girls who are welcomed in our family home.
The idea of a meaningful sporting challenge, which would highlight Isla’s cause, raise awareness and involve many new people, immediately seemed the perfect match.
Just like that, the journey began: training sessions, bike rides alongside the girls and the planning of an initiative that could involve many volunteers and activists throughout Italy, that became testimonials of this charity event.
Isla is a small reality, but on that occasion, it proved to be strong and well placed. The fundraising event worked out; we raised money for € 8,000 that turned into a great relief to cover part of that year’s school expenses.
It was a very special first edition, which contributed to the realization of dreams and the construction of a better future for the girls we welcome!
