The first week of cycling was very hard also considering the heat that was felt heavily. However, the enthusiasm is great and Francesco had the opportunity to meet many people, old and new supporters, and talk to them about the importance of distance support.
A week has already passed since Francesco left for Isla’s Solidarity Ride, an initiative organized to celebrate 20 years of activity and commitment to protecting children’s rights. A week in which we met friends and supporters, involved new people, and expanded Isla’s large family.
We left Rome on August 24th and then proceeded towards Bassano in Teverina, Rigomagno, Florence, Sarzana, Genoa and Loano, where we concluded these first seven days. At each stop we told, shared and explained how important long-distance support is for our reality and how much it has allowed us to do in these years, for all the girls welcomed in the Family Home.
“I continue to travel along rough paths, encounter rain or scorching heat depending on the day, stop in unlikely places along the way and eat Sicilian sweets that give me an incredible boost. I met friends and volunteers and it was really nice to be able to hug them again. Diego, a long-time friend, even joined me from Rome to pedal with me to Genoa. I never feel alone, even if it’s so hard (I’m no longer old enough for these feats 😁). I know I have so many people following me, sometimes from close by, sometimes from afar, but always with affection and the awareness that we are doing all this precisely to give a different future to the girls we welcome in the Casa Famiglia and not only that: we are fighting together to guarantee every child, in any part of the world, their fundamental right to a serene and protected childhood! Let’s continue to pedal together towards the next stages, DAJE!”
