We will tell you, with some numbers and some photographs of the day, how the participation of Isla ng Bata and its volunteers, friends and supporters in the 2024 Rome Marathon was. As you know, part of the proceeds is intended directly to support the activities of our family home in the Philippines, where we welcome girls and boys in difficulty.The Rome Marathonit is an initiative in which Isla ng Bata has been taking part since 2023. This second year was full of satisfactions and many, many people chose to run (and walk) alongside us under the Isla flag. Francesco, president of Isla ng Bata, ran the 42 kilometers of the 2024 Rome Marathon, alongside two friends of our Association, who flew to Italy directly from Greece for the occasion.
Many other volunteers and supporters joined us in the capital to take part in an unprecedented sporting event. There were seven of our relay teams, who achieved excellent results even within the times. More than 130 participants in the Stracittadina Fun Run with Isla ng Bata: the 5 kilometer mini marathon that saw us walking and running together, under the blue colors of our waving flags.
The day then ended at the Good Deeds Day event at the Circus Maximus, where hundreds of associations – together with Isla ng Bata – organized initiatives and talked about their projects.
For us it was an important moment that combined sport and solidarity, which brought us together with many friends and volunteers coming not only from Rome but from various parts of Italy and which allowed us to raise funds – part of the proceeds from the participation fees was donated to support the girls welcomed in Family Home – for our project.
An initiative that we will repeat in 2025 and which already promises to be a huge event full of surprises, in a spring Rome that we will fill with the colors of Isla, for the protection of the rights of every child!
